Tamil movie ‘Sowkarpettai’ review

“Sowkarpettai,” an upcoming Tamil movie, directed by Vadivudaiyan V C. is all set to hit the screens on March 04, 2016. Having an ‘A’ certification, this is a comedy horror movie, the trailer, and audio of which has been released.

The rights of the film lie with Sri Thenandal Films. The plot of the movie revolves around Sowkarpettai in Chennai and is a mixture of horror, sentiments, emotions and love.

The movie stars Raai Laxmi and Srikanth in lead roles and features Singam Puli, Vadivukkarasi, Kovai Sarala, Suman, Sampath Raj, Sarvanan and Vivek in supporting roles.

This film is funded by Jones and John Max together under the ‘Shalom Studios’ banner. It is said that his film would also be released in Hindi as “Tantra Shakti” and in Telugu as “Begumbeta”.

Earlier, the movie was scheduled to be released last year, but since the film is being released in other languages, it took time for completion of formalities. Thenandal Films own the distribution rights.

On being asked about the challenges faced in the movie, Vadivudaiyan states that it was quite tedious to shoot the climax scene. 15 minutes of climax scene of the film was shot with around 50 ghosts.

He feels that this is the main highlight of the film and hopes that the efforts would pay off. He further adds that there are several films in this genre, but he focuses mainly on giving a unique angle to viewers.

For both Raai Laxmi, who was seen in a glamorous role last time and Srikanth, who was seen in a romantic role last time, this movie is a new avatar and a new-look one.
