Robin Williams Daughter Breaks from Social Media Due to Cruel Comments

Zelda Rae Williams, daughter of famous actor Robin Williams, has decided to break from social media for a while. “I will be leaving this account for a but [sic] while I heal and decide if I’ll be deleting it or not. In this difficult time, please try to be respectful of the accounts of myself, my family, and friends.” She wrote these words at her Instagram account as well as at Twitter.

Zelda’s words come right after she posted a loving message to her father on Monday: “I love you. I miss you. I’ll try to keep looking up. Z,” after quoting Antoine De Saint-Exupery’s statement about one person having the only laughing stars in the night sky. Apparently, two individuals, known as @PimpStory and @MrGoosebuster, wrote some horrible things to Zelda in the wake of the death of her father – a tragic action committed by sad individuals when you consider that the daughter of Robin Williams is already grieving enough as it is.

Robin Williams was found dead in his apartment on Monday afternoon by his assistant. His wife went to bed early, rising the next morning to head to work. The door was closed in his room, so she went to work – thinking that Robin Williams had gone to bed late. His secretary found him after trying to contact him dead in his room, hanging with a belt tied around his neck. The official prognosis was that Williams died of “asphyxia due to hanging.” An official toxicology report has been filed, but the final say over the Robin Williams death will not arrive before weeks down the line.

Robin Williams, it turns out, had returned to drug rehab a few months ago after believing he’d beaten his drug habit. Despite his on-screen laughter and the laughter and entertainment he brought billions of people around the world, the actor’s greatest curse was that he couldn’t make himself laugh through his sadness. In light of his death, it is asked that we take time to remember this great individual who knew how to keep us laughing. At the same time, we should also take time to reach out to those who, like Robin Williams, are also suffering internally with a depression so deep that they often find themselves with nowhere to go – and no one to turn to. Depression is real, and even the greatest among us – Robin Williams included – can succumb to it.
