Playboy model Katie May dies

Model, Playboy vixen and social media sensation Katie May  died at the age of 34. It was reported the so-called “Queen of Snapchat” died on Thursday in Los Angeles after a blockage of her carotid artery.

During a photo shoot some days earlier, Miss May is reported to have fallen and damaged her neck. Her family said she had died as a result of a “catastrophic stroke.” She leaves a daughter aged seven years old. 

May had become a superstar on Instagram, with around 2 million following her updates. The successful pin-up featured in swimwear shoots for Playboy, Sports Illustrated and many other publications.

While the cause of death is yet to be confirmed, it was reported Miss May’s condition got worse over time. She reported neck pain after falling at a recent photo shoot, tweeting to followers on 30th January: “Pinched a nerve in my neck on a Photoshoot and got adjusted this morning. It hurts! Any home remedy suggestions love? XOXO”

Miss May was admitted to hospital on Monday.  Becoming less and less responsive, she was eventually put on life support. Her family made the difficult decision to turn it off after sad goodbyes around her bedside at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office confirmed Miss May’s death occurred three days after her stroke.

Friends have paid tribute to the model on social media. Friend of five years Christina Passanisi said “It is so sudden and so sad and so tragic…She was just capable of juggling so many things and doing it effortlessly. She was just a unique and special individual.”

A Gofundme page has been set up with the aim of supporting Mia, Katie’s 7-year-old daughter who she leaves behind. To date some $10,000 has been donated to the fund.
