An incredibly rare version of the Chevrolet Corvette is officially going to be going up for sale with the rest of the 2016 models. Just 500 will be built and sold, and it will have some of the most impressive specifications of any car built to date that will be street legal. It’ll without question be the most powerful car built and sold by Chevrolet for street performance in some time, as well. It’ll bring 650hp to the fold, and will have as impressive a package built onto it that any car could.
The interior will be impressive with jet-black all-leather upholstery, and black wheels, as well. However, the massive V8 engine will be able to get from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, or 2.98 seconds if the car is equipped with the automatic transmission that increases performance. At the end of the day, this vehicle is all about exclusiveness and raw power.
For Chevrolet though it’s a good thing that they’re sticking with selling just 500 of these vehicles. Their starting price is just over $106,000 and will surely be attracting an interesting crowd. Moreover, this isn’t the type of investment for everyday consumers that will really make money for the company. This is a product of surprise and spontaneous interest more than anything else – which is precisely what the company is trying to work out.
It’ll be interesting to see how the vehicle is received, and if the horsepower will be enough to sell those 500 vehicles quickly. Undoubtedly, the cars will move relatively quickly just from collectors jumping at the opportunity to own something that will be as rare as this vehicle will be when it launches. Chevy pointed out that this will be the closest thing to a professional racing car that any non-professional driver will get. It’s unclear how that will go over with officials, as they see these cars on the road.
