Super League: Team News And Discussion Topics For Sunday

In the final two matches of Round 17 of the Super League season, Wakefield Trinity plays Wigan Warriors, and Warrington Wolves play Salford Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.

Out last week’s crushing loss to Salford behind them, Wakefield must put up a much more committed performance, according to Willie Poaching.

Trinity will have a difficult battle when they host Challenge Cup champion Wigan Warriors at the Be Well Support Stadium on Sunday after losing 74-10 to them at the AJ Bell Stadium in Round 16.

As the 11th-placed team looks to improve on their record of just five victories from 16 games thus far, head coach Poaching is confident that his players are displaying the right attitude but is also aware that they cannot afford any slips when they face one of the Super League’s leading lights in 2022.

Poaching stated that “we must be obedient, and we are a squad that needs a high percentage of people on the pitch to be doing well.”

“He has seen enough throughout the season to be confident in our mentality. if he wasn’t the first to do it.”

Wigan enters the game with an identical 21-man roster from last Friday’s 40-6 victory over Toulouse Olympique at home.

Salford Red Devils vs. Warrington Wolves (3pm)

Following last week’s 13-try demolition of Wakefield, Paul Rowley believes his Salford team is displaying all the traits the club should expect of them as they go to Warrington.

The Red Devils scored 74 points, their biggest score in a Super League game, but head coach Rowley knows that Warrington will present a different challenge.

Nevertheless, he is pleased with what he sees in his team and is eager to build on that victory as they travel to Wolves, a team they sit above on points differential and just four points outside the play-offs. Both teams have won six of their first 16 Super League games this season, as reported by Skysports.
