People’s Climate March is huge success, India and China avoiding UN Summit

On Tuesday, some of the most powerful and influential leaders in the world will talk, debate, and explore options to better treating our planet at the United Nations Climate Summit.

But Sunday the People’s Climate March took center stage and surprised many at the overwhelming success and intensely high turnout.

More than 400,000 people represented the growing portion of the population that is concerned with the world that is being left to the next generation, and hundreds of thousands came together to spark a continued debate beyond the upcoming Climate Summit.

Last year, the Forward on Climate March attracted a lot of marchers – and did very well. But, most have estimated that the success of this demonstration for exceeds any of it’s predecessors.

More impressively was the amount of political turnout. Many senators, and policymakers from the area, or neighboring states – and of course the environmental-political king Al Gore, were all in attendance.

On Tuesday, the United Nations Climate Summit is expected to see 120 major global leaders – including President Obama – to tackle the growing carbon pollution problem many major cities across the globe are facing.

No longer is this an issue of the United States, or a few other major nations across the world. This is now a problem that every country is being forced to deal with, and it’s something that impacts every person, in every walk of life.

The People’s Climate March proved just that.

However, a few concerns have been raised – even with the massive success the People’s Climate March proved to be. The United States, India and China were the top 3 producers of carbon pollution globally, and while the entire world emitted more carbon pollution than ever before – last year – leaders from China and India won’t be at the United Nations Climate Summit.

President Obama has ensured the globe though, that the United States will be leaders in creating, executing, and maintaining real change when it comes to preserving our earth through safer, and more climate-conscious policies.

Still though, the huge success that was the People’s Climate March definitely has set a positive, and goal-oriented mindset for the upcoming Climate Summit on Tuesday.
