Smartphone technology has been around for quite some time, but the year 2014 will probably go down in history as one of the most stocked with Smartphone innovation. The Indian market particularly saw a boom in the industry with new entrants from the Chinese and Taiwanese markets making a thunderous landing. With a market previously dominated by the technology giants Apple, Sony, LG and Samsung, the aggressive pricing strategy adopted by the Chinese companies saw a whirlwind of purchases made within record times. But even with such trends there were those releases that wouldn’t go unnoticed and here is an analysis of the top three Smartphone products of the year.
Sony’s Xperia Z3 takes the third place, and products from Sony have always matched their value. This was the only Smartphone release that came complete with an IP68 certification, a brilliant display, a notably long battery life and a superb camera for the camera savvy. Equipped with a 5.2-inch display, this phone had a reputable RAM size of 3GB along with a storage capacity of 16GB with a Micro SD, which can be expanded to 128GB. Running on the software platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, the phone had a front and rear camera with a resolution of 20.7MP and 2.2MP respectively.
A notable deficiency of this gadget was its pricing, starting at 51,990Rs, which was notably dear compared to its close competitors, which have ore features.
The second on the list was the apple iPhone 6, one that saw the highest sales in the year. With its large screen for display, it had a brilliant display that took the interest of the techno savvy. Other notable features included its high tech cameras, a clear sound for calls and its simplicity in use. Based on software Apple A8 and a RAM of 1GB, it has a non-expandable memory of 16GB and a screen display of 4.7 inches. With a battery capacity of 1810mAh, this phone has one of the best battery lives for Smart Phones, which are otherwise power guzzlers.A notable mishap spotted in this trendy phone was its vulnerability to water and dust along with its inability to use NFC for data transfer.

Finally, the best of the best is the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, a real hit in the Smart Phone industry. This phone achieved in almost all fronts that require attention, be it general performance in which it starred, its software was almost flawless, a surprisingly withstanding battery life and all the innovations that came with it. This phone alongside other things had a quality camera, and its unique capability to fully recharge in two hours was one of the features not seen in other available trending phones. This phone was further produced in a multitude of shinny colors and so one was not tied to any single color, you could even match your outfit with the color of your phone.

However, its lack of resistance to water and dust was a notable challenge, putting in mind that these are the commonest threats to the life of any electronic gadget. A highly anticipated Lollipop update was also missing though it is expected early next year otherwise it deserves its rank.
