Each new month brings with it a cavalcade of great new releases on Netflix NFLX . Many of them are produced by Netflix itself, why several others are new films that rotate in and out of its digital library. Navigating through all those options and ranking them can be daunting—but it’s a challenge I welcome.
As 2023 marches on, I will continually be ranking each and every new release added to Netflix throughout the year, and updating the list monthly. Many great films were added to the streaming service in the month of March, and they are now eligible for this list. So let’s review the best new movies added to Netflix in 2023.
Netflix has had great success with this animated features, including the two Oscar-nominated flicks The Mitchells vs. The Machines and The Sea Beast. Your Place or Mine was directed by Aline Brosh McKenna and stars Reese Witherspoon, Ashton Kutcher, Jesse Williams, Zoë Chao, Wesley Kimmel, Tig Notaro, and Steve Zahn.
Without a doubt, the funniest new movie on Netflix in 2023 is You People—a comedy about racial relations in America from the minds of Kenya Barris and Jonah Hill. The film centers on a couple who anxiously make their polarizing parents aware of their modern relationship.

Women have slowly and steadily gained a fierce presence in action films over the past several years. Of the celebrities that have gripped a captivated audience over the years, Pamela Anderson certainly ranks amongst the most viral. This documentary takes a look at her iconic life, with never-before-seen footage and personal journals included.

Some stories feel so surreal that they couldn’t possibly be true. True Spirit certainly fits that bill, as the teenage drama follows a 16-year-old Australian who attempted to sail around the world on her own.
True Spirit was directed by Sarah Spillane and stars Teagan Croft, Cliff Curtis, and Anna Paquin.
Fan fiction about Edgar Allan Poe that stars Christian Bale as a detective…how can you deny such a delightful premise? The Pale Blue Eye delivers with its mystery, which concerns an elusive serial killer who is taking the lives of several young cadets.

Every year seems to bring with it a lineup of post-apocalyptic sci-fi action movies. And one of Netflix’s entries into that canon this year was the fantastic JUNG_E. The film takes place in the near near future as an artificial intelligence laboratory leads an effort to end a civil war by cloning the brain of a famed warrior.
JUNG_E was directed by Yeon Sang-ho and stars Kang Soo-yeon, Kim Hyun-joo, and Ryu Kyung-soo.
In addition to its healthy lineup of darker adult content, Netflix is prolific with plenty of family-friendly options that offer up lots of laughs. The biggest hit so far seems to be We Have a Ghost, a fantasy/comedy that centers on a family that becomes a social media sensation upon discovering their house is haunted by a ghost.
