Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge Release Date, Price and Features

Those waiting for information about the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge, the wait appears to be over.

On Sunday the release date, specs and supposed price of the phone as well as supposed images have officially been released.

The announcements come after weeks of talk, rumors and reports hinting at what the newest Galaxy models will look like, and act like. The recent releases also put the rumors to bed that there might also be a Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus.

Talk has centered around the possibility that Samsung might go the route of iPhone 6 Plus but that discussion proved to be false.

The first piece of concrete news is neither the Galaxy S7 or the S7 Edge will look substantially different from the Galaxy S6. Despite the fact that there won’t be a giant-sized phone, the S7, and S7 Edge will have two decent sized screens.

The S7 will carry a 5.1-inch screen while the Edge will have a 5.5-inch display. Both models will sport 1440 x 2560 quad HD display with Super AMOLED tech.

The S7 diverts from the S7 Edge slightly in that it will have an “always on” display that allows people always to be able to read the screen without having to hit a button.

Despite having that tech, this phone is said to have been designed to pull less battery power than previous generations of this line.

When it comes to taking selfies and videos, reports are claiming both phones will come equipped with 12MP phones with a f/1.7 aperture, compared to 16 megapixels and f/1.9 in the previous generation.

That means fewer megapixels but better aperture performance. You’ll have to be the judge whether this makes for a better camera overall.

So when can you get your hands on these devices? That information wasn’t officially released, but most reports expect both phones to be officially announced at the 2016 Mobile World Congress. Orders are expected to be taken starting on February 21 and will ship in mid-March.
