‘Rocky Handsome’ Total Worldside Box-Office Collection report

John Abraham starrer action thriller “Rocky Handsome” was released on March 15, 2016 in India and across the world. The movie is a Hindi remake of Korean movie “The Man from Nowhere”.

The movie, which has been in the making for quite some time now, features an interesting ensemble of star-cast like, John Abraham, Shruti Hassan (in the special appearance), Sharad Kelkar, Diya Ca load, Nathalia Kaur, Teddy Maurya and director Nishikant Kamat (making his acting debut). The movie is one of the most anticipated and awaited projects due to several reasons.

The plot of the movie revolves around the main protagonist, Kabir Ahlawat (John Abraham), who is out on a mission to single-handedly destroy the drug, organ and child trafficking mafia, after the gang kidnaps his eight-year-old neighbor, Naomi (Diya Chalwad), with whom he shares a close and emotional bond.

The traffickers, lead by gang lord Kevin Pereira (Nishikant Kamat), wants to remove every saleable organ from Naomi’s mother’s (Nathalia Kaur) body and sell them off for a price. How, Kabir, whom Naomi addresses as ‘Handsome’, destroys the gang and rescues Naomi and his mother, is what forms the crux of the plot.

Similar to his earlier movie “Force”, director Nishikant Kamat, has kept the pace of the movie, fast and kicking. There is not a single dull moment in the proceedings as the plot and the mind-blowing action sequences keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.

With the services of famed Hollywood action directors available with ease, the action quotient of “Rocky Handsome” is a notch higher, with John Abraham stealing the limelight with his death-defying and gravity defying stunts.

Coming to the performances, John as Kabir Ahlawat, with a wooden face and minimum expressions, has managed to compensate with his six pack physique, which does the talking most of the time.

A talented and fine actress like Shruti Hassan, with limited screen time, has been wasted, with the actress, who essays the ladylove of John, getting to sing only a couple of songs and a few scenes in the flashback, which bear no connections with the main plot.

However, it is the child actress Diya Chalwad, who with her innocent looks and fine performances, manages to make the viewers sit up and take note.

Her emotional bonding with John Abraham’s character and the joint scenes between the two are the real scene-stealers of the movie and provide some beautiful, emotional relief in this action thriller.

Nishikant Kamat and Teddy Maurya are apt for their respective characters, with Nishikant giving no hint of this being his first outing as an actor.

Finally, although a gripping movie, too much of bloodshed and gory violence, will make the viewers uneasy and cringing in their seats.

With a little bit of trimming of the action sequences and adding up more of the emotional scenes between John and Diya, could have helped the movie become taut and engrossing, like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan.’ Doing away with a song or two could have helped in boosting the pace of the proceedings.

‘Rocky Handsome’ first day collections and stats will be posted here soon. Stay tuned.
