Motorola Droid Turbo vs Apple iPhone 6 Plus: Specs and Features

Motorola released all the specifications to the company’s new flagship device, and the ‘Droid Turbo’ definitely brings a lot to the table. However, there is another device out there that has been on the market for a little over a month now, which is still selling like crazy.

A side-by-side comparison reveals that both phones are incredible impressive devices and that both have incredible upside to them – overshadowing virtually all other phones on the market.

Display

The Motorola Droid Turbo brings a 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD AMOLED display that is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3, making it amongst the best in the business. The Apple iPhone 6 Plus has an 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD, 1080 x 1920 pixel display that is actually shatterproof by design. The Droid Turbo actually has the highest pixel density seen on any phone to date.

Power

The Motorola Droid Turbo boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with a 2.7GHz CPU, and a quad core Adreno 420 GPU to handle the visuals on the device. The boasts 3GB of RAM, and at least on paper, will be the fastest device on the market. The iPhone 6 Plus brings an Apple A8 chipset that is exclusive to the Apple brand, and boasts a 1.4 GHz output with 1GB of RAM. Apple often makes their devices ultra-efficient to compensate for the significantly lower output figures.

Camera

The iPhone 6 Plus boasts an 8MP camera that faces the rear and a 1.2MP camera that functions as a secondary camera on the device. That is the front-facing camera. While the Motorola Droid Turbo brings a massive 21MP primary shooter and a front-facing 2MP shooter. Apple though has famously made their cameras function better on lesser-specifications, by making software that leads the industry.

Battery

The Motorola Droid Turbo boasts a 3,900mAh battery that can last 48 hours, and even brings a super-charger to the table. That means getting 8 hours of battery life from a 15 minute charge. In comparison, the iPhone 6 Plus is good for roughly 24 hours of 3G talk time but offers no “turbo charging” method in its 2,915mAh battery.

Other Features

While the Droid Turbo does not bring Apple Pay or anything similar to it, to the table with this device, it does bring NFC to the table. It also doesn’t bring any fingerprint technology to the table this time either. Although that seems to be the furthest thing from the minds of those who are engineering these new Droid devices. However, the Motorola Droid Turbo does bring water resistance to the table. That’s something that many individuals will find handy come the summer months, and after the device has some age on it.

Conclusion

In all, the Motorola Droid Turbo seems to be the better smartphone on paper. Although the differences between the two devices could be slight, and at the end of the day, the only thing that truly matters to most as they set out to buy a phone is what operating system it’s working with. iPhone users are likely to remain loyal to their iPhones, just as Android users are likely to remain loyal to Android no matter which device is better on paper, or in practice. However, it is our expectation that the Motorola Droid Turbo will soon become the best smartphone, overall, on the entire market.
