Honor 5X launched in the US for $199.99 Unlocked, available at Amazon and Newegg

The Huawei Honor 5X launched on Sunday, January 31 and the newest smartphone with an Android operating system is being priced at just $199.99 starting today. The phone’s launch is being kicked off with a sale that drives the price down to $200 and it can be purchased right now from Amazon and Newegg as well as any cellular providers who are carrying this model. The low price off contract likely means that those who are willing to engage in a new contract or upgrade might be able to get the Honor 5X for free.

Huawei has long been attempting to gain a stronger foothold in the American market. It appears as though this cheaper phone, that still comes with all the bells and whistles could be one way to get that foothold. The Honor 5X comes equipped with a metal chassis housing a 5.5 inch screen that is full HD and can deliver picture with at least 1080p.

For those who love to take and share pictures from their phone, rest assured the Honor 5X can handle the job thanks to a 13MP rear facing camera and a 5MP front facing camera. Those who are looking for a powerful smartphone should look elsewhere but the Honor 5X isn’t completely bereft of processor power. The phone comes equipped with a Snapdragon 615 processor. The phone has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory and that can be upgraded all the way to 64GB.

As this an Android powered phone it’s running on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. What really makes this phone stand out from the crowd from other similar Android phones is that it has the very distinct Huawei Emotion UI. All of this is packed into a phone that Huawei hopes will be seen as quite a bit of value in the American market. The Honor 5X is the direct follow up to the Nexus 6P which launched with fairly positive reviews in the industry.
