Heavy Rain in Pakistan

Torrential rains are known for its destructive nature in Pakistan, and this time too, the worst fear happened in the Asian country.

Flash floods which happened in Pakistan on April 03, 2016 killed at least 45 people, which put the country in a state of shock. More than 55 are said to be injured, and are admitted in hospital. The mishap happened in North West Pakistan, and the chances of further more flash floods are still high.

Unexpected torrential rains started in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday evening, and from then, nature showed its full fury. Latif ur Rehman, disaster management official told that the rains lasted for more than 12 hours, and this resulted in this massive destruction.

Latif added that roofs of many rural houses were collapsed, and this is the main reason behind the increase in causalities. Dawan newspaper reported that Pakistani side of the disputed Kashmir is also affected slightly by this unexpected water bomb explosion.

Landslides blocked major highways in Khyber Pakhtunwa mountainous roads. The area which was very badly hit by the floods is Shangla. According to reports, more than 20 people died in this area, while 30 were injured.

In the midst of these destructive events, common people from the affected area have started criticizing Government for their pathetic relief efforts.

A resident of Swat Valley told that they are left isolated, and no Government team is coming to help. On the other hand, Government assures that proper relief measures will be taken, as disaster management team is working day and night.

South Asian flash-floods are quite common, and they used to inflict massive destruction every year. Disaster management in Pakistan is not that equipped, and it is creating negative impacts on relief efforts.

At this saddest moment, we extend our deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased ones.
