The first real images of the Pixel 8 Pro have surfaced on Reddit, not long after leaker Kamila Wojciechowska shared availability and battery details about Google’s next flagships. Please note that the photos are of a Design Validation Test (DVT) prototype rather than a retail unit. Thus, some details could change before Google releases the Pixel 8 Pro in the autumn.
Nonetheless, the two photos confirm the accuracy of renders that @OnLeaks published in March alongside equivalents for the Pixel 8. Hence, the Pixel 8 Pro has a rounder design than its predecessor. Additionally, the device essentially has a flat display, with what appears to be a 2.5D finish visible in one image. The same image reveals that the Pixel 8 Pro will start with 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage too, matching last year’s model. Presumably, the same will apply to the Pixel 8 but with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
As expected, the Pixel 8 Pro also has a tweaked camera bar compared to the Pixel 7 Pro. Specifically, Google protects all rear-facing cameras with the same glass cover, unlike the Pixel 7 Pro. Moreover, it seems that Google has added a temperature sensor that sits below a repositioned LED flash array.
The same picture refers to the device as ‘Zuma’ revision too, a codename for the Tensor G3 chipset. Typically, we would recommend exercising caution over leaks such as these. However, the Redditor has since deleted their account and the original photos, which contained full metadata, including coordinates. For reference, we have removed this data from the images embedded below.
