“Let us begin today’s bulletin with news on James Cameron‘s Avatar. The film is coming back to theatres worldwide on September 23 in remastered 4K High Dynamic Range format, Disney and 20th Century have announced. The epic sci-fi film’s re-release comes three months before the arrival of its much-anticipated sequel Avatar: The Way of Water on December 16.
Avatar, starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, will be available for a “two-week limited engagement”.
Cameron’s Avatar, 2009, became the top-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office with more than USD 2.8 billion in revenues. It was nominated for nine Academy Awards including best picture and best director and won three Oscars.

Meanwhile, The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has revealed that her and Prince Harry‘s son Archie’s life could have been in danger had it not been for his nanny Lauren. In 2019, when the couple was on their South Africa tour, Archie’s nursery caught fire. Meghan credits Archie’s nanny for staying by the baby’s side and keeping him safe. The heater in the nursery had caught fire and since there was no smoke detector in the room, the fire was only realised once someone smelled the smoke. She said, “Archie was supposed to be sleeping in there. Of course, as a mother, you go, ‘Oh, my God.”
“In other news, New York’s highest court has agreed to hear an appeal from Harvey Weinstein over his 2020 rape conviction. A spokesman for the Court of Appeals said Wednesday that oral arguments would likely be held sometime next year, after the decision to hear the case was granted on August 19.
Weinstein was convicted in February 2020 in New York of forcibly performing oral sex on a TV and film production assistant in 2006 and raping an aspiring actress in 2013. The 70-year-old was sentenced to 23 years in prison and is currently in custody in California awaiting trial on other assault charges. Weinstein’s publicist, Juda Engelmayer, said, “We are hopeful and grateful for this rare opportunity.”

“Actor Anna Heche is laid to rest at a storied Los Angeles cemetery alongside many Hollywood luminaries, her family said Tuesday. Heche was cremated and her ashes were placed in a mausoleum at Hollywood Forever Cemetery nearly two weeks after she was declared dead at a hospital from injuries suffered in a fiery car crash.
In a statement to The Associated Press, Heche’s son Homer Laffoon said he and her other son Atlas Tupper “are convinced our Mom would love the site we have chosen for her; it’s beautiful, serene and she will be among her Hollywood peers.” The cemetery has become a cultural hub for film screenings, musical performances, and festivals.”
“Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings star Simu Liu is set to play the villain in Netflix’s Atlas, a sci-fi thriller movie headlined by Jennifer Lopez. According to the entertainment outlet Deadline, This Is Us star Sterling K Brown and The Great actor Abraham Popoola will play key roles in the upcoming film.
The movie follows Atlas essayed by Lopez, a woman fighting for humanity in a future where an AI (artificial intelligence) soldier has determined the only way of ending the war is to end humanity. To outthink this rogue AI, Atlas must work with the one thing she fears most — another AI. The movie falls under the first-look deal Lopez signed last year with Netflix.

“Meanwhile, the first look of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is out.
The multi-starrer is a spiritual sequel of Rian’s Academy Award-nominated Knives Out, which starred the likes of Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, and Toni Colette among others.
In part two, we will once again see Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc investigate a fresh case, for which he will travel all the way to Greece. The official logline of the movie reads, “In the follow-up to Rian Johnson’s KNIVES OUT, Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colourful suspects.””
“In some exciting news, Oscar-nominated actors Woody Harrelson and Laura Linney will take on the lead roles in the upcoming drama ‘Suncoast’. The project, which made the 2020 Black List, will mark the directorial debut of Laura Chinn, best known for creating the popular sitcom Florida Girls.
Chinn will write and direct the movie, which is based on her life experiences from the early 2000s, according to Deadline. Also starring Nico Parker of Dumbo fame, the film is about a teenager living with her strong-willed mother (Linney) who must take her brother to live at a specialized facility.
Harrelson most recently starred in filmmaker Ruben Ostlund’s Triangle of Sadness, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.”
“We end this bulletin with news on actor Ariana DeBose is set to topline Prime Video and Blumhouse’s psychological thriller movie House of Spoils. The movie comes from Blow the Man Down filmmakers Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, and is based on their original idea, reported entertainment website Variety.
DeBose, who won the Oscar for best-supporting actress earlier this year for her performance in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, will play an ambitious chef who opens her first restaurant where she battles kitchen chaos, a dubious investor, and crushing self-doubt.
The project is being touted as a “tense, psychological and sensuous thriller that will leave hearts pounding and mouths watering”. Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold will serve as executive producers.”
