A new research has revealed that having a ‘walking meeting’ instead of a ‘seated meeting’ will have a positive impact on the health of the participating individual.

Moderate physical exercise in adults for 20 minutes daily which adds up to 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week will have a positive influence on the health of the individual.

The study has been published in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease dated 4 July 2016.

A recent study has revealed that holding one walking meeting instead of a seated one per week increased work-related physical activity by 10 minutes.

The study highlighted the need to have a walking protocol which raises the level of physical activity to counteract the ill effects of leading a sedentary lifestyle.

Opportunities for physical activity are very less in the office.  American Heart Association has suggested that 30 minutes of moderate exercises daily is imperative for good health. Hence white collar workers will find it feasible to convert a traditional seated meeting into a walking meeting.

A previous study has revealed that moderate exercises like going on foot for 15 minutes can augment your life expectancy by three years.

Going on foot is one of the easiest and simple physical activities which require no specialized equipment or training. It does not cost a penny, and there is no need to shower afterward.

Incorporating walking at the place of work is one of the easiest way to stay healthy and at the same time completing all the tasks in the office.

Besides having walking meeting there are a host of other steps which can be taken without in any way compromising efficiency at the work place.  Pacing around while receiving phone calls burns a lot of calories.

Even standing up burns 50 calories per hour. Driving and then going on foot for  some distance to the place of work will again burn some of those extra calories.
