Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Note 4, and Note 3 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update release date and features list

As is the case with most Android operating system rollouts, Google has been staggering when certain phones are able to download the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Newer phones are shipping with the OS already on them while older phones such as the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 3 are still waiting for the update. Earlier this week, reports began surfacing that told us when owners of those three handsets can get the new operating system.

While no one is quite sure as to the rhyme or reason when Android phones get their new operating systems, it appears at least the latest versions are getting the update first. Reports indicate that owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is going to be running Marshmallow by the end of February. This phone will be getting the update at the same time of a number of other newer modes including the S6 Edge+.

The update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will reportedly follow the Note 5 shortly as most reports in the industry believe that model is going to be getting the update in March or April. While that might seem like an interminable time to wait for some owners, they can at least count their lucky stars that they are getting the update at all. There appears to be consensus that the Galaxy Note 3 might not get Marshmallow at all. The phone just received the Latest Lollipop and is now more than two years old. Samsung could be moving to basically making this an outdated model sooner, rather than later.

When it comes to the features phones that upgrade to Marshmallow can enjoy, users are looking at a fingerprint unlock feature that appears to work quite well though you will need to use a pin or password after restart or reboot. There is also a revamped color scheme as well as the addition of Google Now on Tap. This feature is aimed at helping Android stay competitive with Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana.
