Micromax Informatics Ltd. has launched another entry- level device to its Lapbook series. The Canvas Lapbook L1160 humbly priced at Rs. 10,499, is exclusively available for sale on Amazon. The laptop screen is 11.6 inches and has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.

Much like its Micromax Lapbook counterparts in the same price range, the L1160 is has a 1.83 Ghz quad-core processor.

The 32 GB internal memory (expandable by up to 64 GB), is supported by 2GB of RAM, and powered by a 4,100 mAh battery. The only difference here from its older counterparts seems to be that the L1161 has a 5000 mAh battery.

One of the most ‘ear catching’ features of this device is its Realtek ALC 5645 speakers, that promise to “pump up the Entertainment quotient”.

Other physical features include a slim build weighted at 1.1 kg and two USB ports. The physical finishing attempts to give it a rich metal feel and the lightweight and size make it very handy and mobile, thus catering to their niche of budget constrained working professionals, and the younger generation as a whole.

Apart from this, the laptop has all the features of a regular device priced close to this range from any other brand, like WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI port.

Micromax has confirmed that this product is one of their first in partnership with Intel and that together they plan to consolidate their position in the “productivity devices” category in the country. This will almost certainly make up for their slow growth rate in the smartphone market.

In their previous launch of the L1161, Micromax had tag-lined the campaign as “Canvas+You= Brilliant Start”. Whether or not this partnership with Intel is a brilliant start, only the sales reports will say.
